Berbere is a spice blend that's a key ingredient in Ethiopian and Eritrean cooking. It's usually made with a mix of over a dozen spices, including: 

red chili peppers, fenugreek, ginger, coriander, cardamom, allspice, cumin, peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon, Ethiopian holy basil (besobela) seeds, Korerima, Rue and Nigella. 

Berbere is a balanced chili powder that adds a fiery kick to dishes.
